You’ll find quite an eclectic mix in the gallery, with photographs taken here at home, in the Galapagos Islands, Jersey, Germany, Austria, France, on land, at sea and from the air. Yes, I tend to take my camera with me, wherever I go.

Polishing and networking

In collaboration with KipperTie I polished up their website, integrating not just their new design ideas and requirements, but also social media in the form of a Facebook page and Twitter feed. Metal Monkey also took a central role in setting up these new accounts.

Hello,

I’m Sarah Marchant, the shutter-clicking key-tapper behind Metal Monkey. Here on this site you will find a selection of jobs I have undertaken in recent years, chief among them: web editing and photography.

I’m a passionate Mac enthusiast and am never far from the keyboard. I have an eye for what makes a good website and specialise in helping individuals, small businesses and organisations deliver their message effectively online.

I also have just as warm a relationship with my Nikon DSLR, always looking to capture the moments and perspectives that would otherwise be lost to the passing of time. A good number of my photographs have been published in the press, or used for promotional posters.

Linz Europe Harbour Festival

Another trip to Austria under my belt. This time to attend and photograph the Linz Europa Hafenfest for Hubert von Goisern’s web site.

Before the three-day festival began in Linz harbour Hubert von Goisern and his band took to the streets in the surrounding region to drum up further interest together with a number of the guest bands. I joined them at their street concerts in the Salzkammergut and the sold-out warm-up concert in the Lehartheater, Bad Ischl.

The harbour festival itself was a real musical extravaganza, with performances from artists from across Europe. There was dialect rock from Germany, Carpathian ska from the Ukraine, gypsy brass from Bulgaria … Three days full of very exciting music and a whole host of performers to photograph, including big stars such as Xavier Naidoo, who made a surprise appearance on the last day.

Big in Bruneck

This is definitely the biggest print I’ve ever seen of one of my photos! My photo of Marlene Schuen and Hubert von Goisern is being used by the local organiser to promote the forthcoming HvG concert in Bruneck, Italy. But never mind sticking to boring old A2 proportions, this poster is currently on display in the town square at a majestic 5 x 10 metres!

Linz Europe Harbour Festival poster

Having taken photos at Hubert von Goisern’s concert with BAP and Köster/Hocker in Cologne last year, one of these shots has now been chosen as the image for the Linz Europa Harbour Festival poster and publicity.

The Linz Europe Harbour Festival is the finale of the Linz Europe Tour 2007-2009, bringing together nearly all the artists with whom Hubert von Goisern has played on his concert ship as he sailed the rivers of Europe these last two summers. From 3rd to 5th July Linz harbour will be resounding with the sound of Europe.

And I’ll be there, camera in hand!

South Tyrol’s biggest society magazine

Hubert von Goisern’s three backing singers are three talented ladies from South Tyrol, their mother tongue being the Ladin dialect. As part of the current S’NIX Tour the band will be playing in Bruneck and Kaltern, so in order to promote these “home games” for the singers the “Südtirolerin” magazine has profiled them in their latest issue. Two pages inside the publication, as well as a box on the front cover are given over to the singers and are illustrated with photographs I took at Hubert von Goisern shows in 2008.

Teambuilding

An interesting day with KipperTie today, spent photographing a teambuilding event where the able-bodied participants played wheelchair basketball. A very effective way of putting everyone on a level playing field.

Tee time

Another day working with KipperTie. While they filmed a charity golf day at Reading, I took stills which were used in a video presentation shown later that day when all the golfers had come in from the green for their sit-down meal. For the record, zooming about on a golf buggy is by far the best way to travel when you’ve got a lot of holes to cover!
